Advent music in our Parish

2nd December

On the first Sunday of Advent, the 9am Choir paid its annual visit to the Anisha Grange Care Home to sing Christmas carols to the residents.

It was another lovely occasion that included readings by choir members.

To finish, the choir went outside to sing "Silent Night" before the Christmas lights were illuminated on the home's huge tree.

9th December

On the second Sunday Advent, The MHR Singers and The Most Holy Redeemer Children's Choir gave a lovely Advent Recital of music and readings in the Church.

The MHR Singers, directed by Kathy Underhill, sang a selection of pieces from its recent Venice Tour, including O Radiant Dawn by Sir James McMillan, Christe, adoremus te by Monteverdi and May you ever sing for joy by Stephen Rumsey.

The Most Holy Redeemer Children's Choir, directed by Bernadette Maskell, then provided a delightful selection of Christmas pieces and narration including Little Donkey, The Zither Carol and Mary Had a Baby.

To conclude, The MHR Singers sang two seasonal pieces, No Small Wonder by Paul Edwards and Tomorrow shall be my dancing day by John Gardner.

Seminarian Michael Barwick then gave his reflection on the evening before thanking the choirs and the eighty parishioners for attending.

There was a retiring collection taken for the Brentwood Children's Society that amounted £193.
