WHAT IS ALPHA?
Alpha is a way to evangelise and share the gospel with others. At the Most Holy Redeemer, we are using Alpha to support our VISION which invites us to journey together and become more outward looking and missional as a parish community and answer Jesus' call to "go and make disciples of all nations."
Alpha introduces people to the Christian faith. It creates a safe space where guests have an opportunity to connect with others' and explore big life questions in a relaxed, friendly, informal setting.
WHO IS ALPHA FOR?
Alpha is for anyone. People attend Alpha from all backgrounds, religions and viewpoints. They come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, what happens after death, the teachings of Jesus and more. Many guests have never been to church; others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith; others attend church regularly. Everyone is welcome.
HOW LONG IS ALPHA?
Typically, Alpha runs for 10-11 weeks and includes a day which is focussed on the Holy Spirit. Each weekly session includes a free meal (when meeting in person), a film and informal discussion in small groups, where no question about life or God is out of bounds, answers aren't pre-packaged and there is no pressure to speak or to share, and no charge or follow-up.
