Kathy Smith retires from the Parish Office
Sunday 29th June 2025
On 20th June 2025, Kathy Smith finally retired after a long and distinguished service to The Most Holy Redeemer as Parish Secretary.
It was back in 1978 that the then Parish Priest, Father Bill Nix, asked a young parishioner called Kathy whether it would be possible for her to help in the Parish Office for a couple of hours a week.
Fast forward almost 50 years and Kathy has become a staple at The Most Holy Redeemer, helping parishioners with general enquiries, supporting Parish Priests, Curates and seminarians as well as offering advice and comfort to those who have found themselves having to deal with difficult and challenging situations.
In addition to this, Kathy has also been faithfully recording the Minutes of the Parish Finance Committee and keeping a close eye on what the Parish Priest has been spending!
It was therefore very fitting that on Saturday 21st June, the Parish made a presentation to Kathy at the 6pm Mass. This was followed by a reception in the Pastoral Centre which was attended by Kathy’s family and many MHR parishioners.
Enjoy your retirement Kathy!
